Algonquin math & physics tutoring
Math and mechanics tutoring for Algonquin students in Ottawa. Choose differential calculus, integral calculus, statics or dynamics by course code.
Choose calculus or engineering mechanics
MAT8101 covers limits, derivatives and rates of change. MAT8102 covers antiderivatives, definite integrals and their applications. Whether you are unsure how to begin or stuck partway through, we can work through a problem together, explain each step and what the answer tells us.
ENG8307 covers statics: using forces and moments to study objects in equilibrium. ENG8310 covers dynamics: describing motion and relating it to forces, energy and momentum. We can start by drawing the situation together, identifying what the question asks and explaining which equation to use. These guides follow Algonquin’s Mechanical Engineering Technology curriculum; other programs may use different course codes.

How to Choose an Integration Method
Compare substitution, integration by parts, partial fractions and trigonometric substitution, with sign-aware radical choices, worked examples and progressive checks.
Free-Body Diagrams and Friction: From Forces to Equations
Choose a system, distinguish static from kinetic friction, and turn a force diagram into equations. Compare horizontal and angled pulls with original diagrams and worked practice.
Work, Energy or Momentum: Choose the Method
Choose a system and interval to connect work, energy and momentum. Guided collision and force–position practice, with an optional centre-of-mass and relative-displacement extension.
Motion Graphs: From the Story to the Equation
Translate a motion story into position, velocity and acceleration graphs. Read slopes and signed areas, choose valid kinematics equations, and try six explained questions.
Volumes of Revolution: Build the Cross-Section First
Build volume integrals from slices, radii and bounds. Practise disks and washers, then compare washers with cylindrical shells in an optional worked example.
Torque and Static Equilibrium: Find the Perpendicular Lever Arm
Find perpendicular lever arms, choose torque signs and pivots, and check force and torque balance. Three worked examples and six questions with hints and solutions.
