Find the step that needs attention

If solving x² − 5x + 6 = 0 stalls, is the difficulty factoring, the zero-product rule, or interpreting the roots on a graph? These are different learning needs.

Work through the reasoning

Factoring gives (x − 2)(x − 3) = 0, so the solutions are 2 and 3. A graph of y = x² − 5x + 6 crosses the horizontal axis at those values. Explaining why each step works reveals more than arriving at the right answer once.
